It's Chad with our country medical update! So last week I told you about Chris Young being hospitalized for a leg infection. He's home now and resting a bit before he gets back on the road. Now it's Jake Owen having a medical issue. He had part of his right ring finger removed yesterday (Aug. 19), just hours before playing a huge free show in downtown Nashville. The procedure was because of the go-kart accident he was in last month, that landed him in the hospital.
On Sunday, Jake noticed the finger was bleeding. Doctors recommended it be removed on Monday. Jake was in quite a bit of pain as he took the stage to perform with Dierks Bentley, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line and the Cadillac Three during his summer block party on Music Row.
“They just went ahead and amputated the last half of it off,” Owen said before the show. “Kinda trying to pretend it doesn’t hurt right now, but it’s a little sensitive. Sensitive’s a good word.” The finger was infected, and while Jake begged his medical team to leave it on until Tuesday, they wouldn’t budge. By the way he did take the stage and the concert was a huge success. Glad he's going to be ok.
Don't forget, I'll be taking all of your requests this evening. And in Country Star Wars tonight, it's Kristy Lee Cook and Randy Houser vs Sara Evans. Be sure to listen at 7:20pn and let me know what you think. ~ Chad
