George Strait cut his concert short Saturday night (Feb. 25) in Kansas City, Mo., because of illness, but he will return there Saturday (March 3) for another performance at the Sprint Center. After an hour-long opening set by Martina McBride, Strait walked onstage around 9:15 p.m. and launched into the title song from his latest album, Here for a Good Time. The Kansas City Star newspaper reported that after singing "I Gotta Get to You," his voice was "labored and hoarse" when he told the crowd, "I just can't do it." Although the audience was disappointed, many fans stood and cheered their support after he made the announcement. Tickets to the original show will be honored at the makeup date which will reportedly also feature McBride. The two singers began the tour on Jan. 27 in Lafayette, La. They performed Friday in Des Moines, Iowa. The Kansas City date was the final stop of the brief tour.
